Dengu (Green Grams) Recipe
Description
Dengu is one of the edible seeds. It is common in Kenya since most people take it with chapati or rice. Dengu when cooked is a high source of proteins.
Ingredients
- 250g Green grams (dengu)
- 2 tablespoons Cooking oil
- Salt to taste
- 2 Tomatoes
- 1 Onion
- 1/2 cup Water
- 1/2 cup Bell Pepper
- 1 clove Garlic
- 1/2 teaspoon Paprika
- Royco
Preparation Procedure
- Wash and boil the green grams until they are soft do not overcook them
- Drain excess water and set aside
- In a frying pan pour cooking oil and chopped onions and let them cook until they are translucent then add mashed garlic
- Add chopped tomatoes and bell pepper and allow them to cook until the tomatoes are well mashed
- Add salt, paprika, and royco and stir
- Add drained green grams then mix well
- Add a cup of water and cover for 5 minutes
- Green grams stew is ready to serve with chapati or rice
