Dengu (Green Grams) Recipe

Description

Dengu is one of the edible seeds. It is common in Kenya since most people take it with chapati or rice. Dengu when cooked is a high source of proteins.

Ingredients

  • 250g Green grams (dengu)
  • 2 tablespoons Cooking oil
  • Salt to taste
  • 2 Tomatoes
  • 1 Onion
  • 1/2 cup Water
  • 1/2 cup Bell Pepper
  • 1 clove Garlic
  • 1/2 teaspoon Paprika
  • Royco

Preparation Procedure

  • Wash and boil the green grams until they are soft do not overcook them
  • Drain excess water and set aside
  • In a frying pan pour cooking oil and chopped onions and let them cook until they are translucent then add mashed garlic
  • Add chopped tomatoes and bell pepper and allow them to cook until the tomatoes are well mashed
  • Add salt, paprika, and royco and stir
  • Add drained green grams then mix well
  • Add a cup of water and cover for 5 minutes
  • Green grams stew is ready to serve with chapati or rice
