Viazi Karai Recipe


Viazi Karai is a potato dish prepared using a few ingredients. All that is required is to coat the raw potatoes in paste and then deep-fry them. You can eat them with your favourite drink or just alone as a snack.


  • 4 Potatoes
  • Coriander
  • 1 clove Garlic
  • Salt to taste
  • Cooking oil
  • 1/2 cup All-purpose flour
  • Water
  • Egg Yellow food color

Preparation Procedure

  1. Peel potatoes then wash them
  2. Cut them into halves
  3. Boil the potatoes with water and salt in a cooking pot. Don't overcook them
  4. In a bowl put flour and egg yellow food color
  5. Add salt, mashed garlic and coriander
  6. Add water and stir to make a paste (should not be too thick and not too light)
  7. Mix boiled potatoes with the paste
  8. In medium heat place a frying pan and pour enough oil
  9. Deep the potatoes in the frying pan one by one
  10. Keep turning them until the coating is dry
  11. Using a frying spoon transfer them to a plate with a paper towel to drain excess oil
  12. Viazi Karai is ready to be taken with Kachumbari
