Boiled Arrowroots (Nduma)

Description

Arrowroots, also known as Nduma, are a popular and healthy breakfast dish in Kenya. Enjoy them with tea or coffee. To prepare them, buy some raw arrowroots from your nearby grocery store, boil them until they're soft, and you're good to go!

Ingredients

  • Arrowroot (Nduma)
  • Water

Preparation Procedure

  1. Wash the arrowroots thoroughly to remove all the dirt.
  2. Peel and cut them into pieces
  3. Put them in a cooking pot
  4. Add 2 cups of water and cover with a lid (adding salt is optional)
  5. In medium heat let them boil for 30 minutes
  6. Use a fork to check whether they are tender if not add 10 more minutes
  7. When tender drain them well.
  8. Let them cool properly
  9. They are ready to be served with tea
