Matoke Recipe
Description
Matoke is a tasty dish loved by people in Kisii region of Kenya and Uganda. To make Matoke, you need to peel unripe bananas, then cook them with tomatoes and onions. Matoke is a good source of potassium. It is ideal for both kids and adults.
Ingredients
- Unripe green bananas
- Onion
- Tomatoes
- Salt
- Coriander
- Cooking Oil
- Green Pepper
- Water
Preparation Procedure
- Peel the green bananas your hands may be a little bit sticky smear some cooking oil on your hands before peeling
- Cut them into the size you wish them to be
- Wash them and drain the water
- Chop all ingredients separately
- In medium heat pour cooking oil into a pot
- Add chopped onions and stir until they turn golden brown
- Add the drained bananas and mix well
- Add tomatoes, green pepper, and salt to taste
- Mix and allow the tomatoes to cook until they are mashed
- Add water and cover
- Reduce the heat and cook until they are tender for 20 -30 minutes
- Serve them while hot
