Sukuma Wiki Recipe


Sukuma wiki, also known as kales, is a favorite vegetable dish in Kenya and other East African countries. Many Kenyans like to enjoy it for dinner with Ugali. To make Sukuma wiki, you simply cut it into small slices and cook it with tomatoes and onions. Sukuma Wiki is packed with fiber, iron, and vitamin.


  • Sukuma wiki
  • Onion
  • Tomatoes
  • Salt
  • Cooking Oil
  • Royco powder/cubes

Preparation Procedure

  1. Wash sukuma wiki leaves properly
  2. Cut them into thin shreds
  3. Chop onions and tomatoes Separately
  4. In a frying pan pour some cooking oil
  5. Add the chopped onions and stir until they are golden brown
  6. Add tomatoes and salt to taste then stir
  7. Let the tomatoes cook until they are well mashed
  8. Add royco powder/cubes (optional)
  9. Add sukuma wiki mix well
  10. Allow it to simmer for 2 minutes
  11. Sukuma wiki is ready to be served with ugali and avocado
