Mandazi Recipe
Description
Mandazi is a favorite breakfast treat in Kenya. To make it, you need to mix baking flour, sugar, baking powder, and eggs, then fry it in oil until it's golden brown. Most Kenyans like eating Mandazi with a cup of tea in the morning hours. It is the best alternative to Chapati.
Ingredients
- Baking flour
- Baking powder
- Eggs
- Sugar
- Cardamon
- Milk
- Melted butter
- Cooking oil
Preparation Procedure
- In a bowl mix dry ingredients that as flour, baking powder, sugar, and cardamon
- In a separate bowl mix wet ingredients that is eggs, milk, and melted butter (use cooking oil if no butter)
- Pour the wet ingredients into the bowl of dry ingredients and mix to form a dough
- Cover the dough and let it rest for 1 hour
- Divide the dough into 4 big sizes
- Roll out 1 of the cut dough and cut them into shapes that can be triangular, circle, or even diamond
- Heat enough oil to deep in the dough. The oil is ready when you deep in a wooden cooking stick and it forms bubbles
- Deep in the dough pieces cut into the cooking oil
- Reduce the heat and keep turning them for 5 minutes
- Using a frying spoon transfer them into a dry bowl
- Repeat the procedure with the remaining 3 big dough
