Chapati Recipe
Description
Chapati is one of the most popular homemade and street foods in Kenya. The deliciousness of Chapati depends on the chef's skills. To make it, you just need wheat flour, salt, water, and cooking oil. Chapati is usually eaten with tea or any stew of your choice. .
Ingredients
- 3 cups baking flour
- 1 teaspoon Salt
- ½ teaspoon Sugar
- Cooking oil
- Water
Preparation Procedure
- Warm 2 cups of water
- In a bowl put 3 cups of flour, salt, and sugar and mix well
- Add a little water as you knead until the dough is sticky and soft
- Keep kneading for 10 minutes until the dough is elastic and soft
- Add 2 tablespoons of cooking oil and knead properly until it’s evenly distributed
- Cover it and allow it to rest for 30 minutes
- Sprinkle some flour on a flat surface
- Divide the dough into 8 pieces and place them on the floured surface
- Cover them to avoid drying
- Flour the surface you will use to roll
- Take one piece out of the eight pieces, place it on the floured surface, and roll it using a rolling pin. Roll it into a circular shape.
- In your heated pan place your rolled dough and brush it with cooking oil
- Keep turning from side to side until is brown
- Repeat the procedure with the remaining 7 pieces
- Serve them with your best stew and enjoy
